***To all South Carolinian cat lovers, please help!***
That sweet cat up there is in desperate need of a home. He’s currently living in a dormitory where pets are not allowed, and really needs to find a permanent home before winter break begins. He’s neutered, roughly 5 years old and about 10 lbs, still in possession of his claws. He enjoys cuddles and attention, is extremely tolerant of being manhandled, and walks with a bit of a limp due to a still-healing leg injury. Given his calm demeanor, he should be fine in a home with other cats, dogs, or children. So if any of you are looking for or know someone who might be looking for a chill adult cat this Christmas, please contact me at my tumblr (slightly-oblivvyous) or email (livvygranger@gmail.com).
Backstory - why he needs your help
Tibbs, as my roommate and I have come to call him, came into our possession through a series of unfortunate events. Someone dumped him out of a car into a neighborhood near our school, where fortunately a caring person picked him up and took him in. He got shuffled from house to dorm to dorm to dorm after a series of allergies and roommate freakouts got him continuously kicked out. Eventually, he landed with us, and settled in quite nicely. When we got him, he weighed barely over 6 lbs and slept constantly due to malnourishment. After just over a week of near-constant care and feeding, he’s up to 10 lbs and significantly more active. Due to his leg injury, he’s unable to jump, but he’s excellent at climbing, and has on several occasions managed to climb up into my bed for late-night snuggles. Unfortunately, our dorm is a pet-free zone, so every day we keep him here is a day we risk him being found out and kicked out again. After being put through so many rounds of Pass the Kitty, he really deserves somewhere he can settle down for good. So please, if you’re looking for a cat and don’t mind one who’s fully-grown and slightly gimpy, please consider taking Tibbs. He’ll love you unconditionally for it.
Even if you can’t adopt him, a reblog to help get the word out would be beautiful and earn my endless thanks. Tibbs doesn’t deserve to get left out in the cold for Christmas Break.

In Central Florida, the Ark Animal Rescue in Deland was raided this week, and 126 animals moved to other facilities, or given back to the owners who originally gave them up. If interested in adopting a pet and in this area, check into it. (http://www.news-journalonline.com/article/20121109/NEWS/311089962?Title=DeLand-police-seize-126-animals-at-shelter)

handsomedogs:

Cliff is a Schnauzer mix who was in a  local shelter that asked FV for assistance as they were overwhelmed with dogs. He had been turned in as a “stray” so there was no medical history on him. As it turn out, Cliff has a medical condition that is called megaesophagus . When he eats, the tube that goes to his stomach, his esophagus, doesn’t have the muscle capacity to propel the ingested food into his stomach. So he runs the risk of regurgitating this food and aspirating it into his lungs. This happened to him shortly after he came to FV as his condition was unknown to us. He developed a mild case of aspiration pneumonia and was hospitalized. His condition was then properly diagnosed and we are able to manage it quite easily. The key is to feed Cliff his food and then keep him elevated for 30 minutes after his meal. This allows gravity to pull the food down into his stomach properly and out of his esophagus. He gets wrapped up in a blanket and sits on someone’s lap with his head up. He is very good and enjoys relaxing. With some medication and caring attention Cliff is doing very well. Fortunately for him his megaesophagus is not as extreme as in some dogs.

Cliff is so grateful that he is now receiving the proper care; he is happy beyond belief. He is wonderful with other dogs and cats. He loves to go for walks and although he can’t eat treats like normal dogs he doesn’t seem to care. He knows he’s special.  He also gets to share an office with the Executive Director.  No kennel for Cliff!

Cliff is an awesome companion and he just needs someone special to come along and give him the loving home he deserves.

*Cliff would do best with older children.
